BEAT THE WHITES WITH THE SAME RED WEDGE
May 25, 2018 - June 19, 2018
Opening Reception: Friday May 25th, 6 - ?pm
In 1919 Lazar Markovich Lissitzky made the work commonly called "Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge." Almost one hundred years later, Rick Griffith says, "We've been here before." Griffith re-orients the pages of black publications into formats which resemble art. And with that - carries the weight of its content into both the past and the future simultaneously. (A pluperfect spiral)
"Sélavy. Long forgotten were the histories which we have already had and even some which we should have not had; futures and abstracts. We have traded on simplicity when complexity is our birthright, even in the realms of things which resemble art."
